VALENTINE'S DAY: GET WHAT YOU GIVE
Celebrate your best Valentine's Day ever. Giving the right hints will help him buy the perfect gift you'll both love.
This time of year there are lots of reminders out there to get him in the Valentine's shopping mood, but rule #1, Don't assume anything! Here's a checklist of the hints that will have him lingerie shopping like a pro:
- Be specific - Most guys are not great listeners so don’t be vague; specify the item, colour and size.
- Demonstrate – Don't confuse him with lingerie lingo; use show-and-tell to explain exactly what you're looking for,
"this is a balcony bra", "this is a thong". (Note: they'll love the show-and-tell and learning is always easier if you're having fun!)
- Make it easy – Write a list, pass along pictures or brochures and clip the store's business card to it.
- Repetition – Repeat steps above as necessary to help him get the message.
- Positive reinforcement – Set the stage for next year, this year. Don't be upset if he varies from the list. Respecting his choice is the best way to encourage future gifts.
- Try not to exchange – Exchange only if you absolutely have to, then do your best to find something similar to what he selected.
If all of the above fail to get him in the mood there's always Plan B: forget the hinting altogether and select something yourself, saving him the time and trauma. This way he only has the card to buy and you'll both be happy!
Valentine's Day tip: Love starts from within, so don't forget to buy something to treat the most important person in your life...You!

ESCAPE FROM THE COLD IN STYLE
If a warm weather getaway is on your horizon, check out my favourite travel lingerie tips.
- I like travel-friendly cotton fabrics best and especially knits, because they're lightweight, cool and easy to pack.
- I love Nanso and always take along the newest style from this clever Finnish line. Multi-tasking fashions in simple designs and bold colours, work hard while you play; for sleeping, lounging or as a beach coverup. They pack small, don't wrinkle and are easy care. Tank style ankle or knee-length chemise and 2pc tunic/pant, in sizes S-XL, $98-$149.
- If space is tight, I can count on 'invisible' microfibre panties in bikini or brief styles. A black and nude pair will see you through and won't show through! Wash them at night and they're dry by morning. Breathable comfort from Lejaby and Chantelle, in sizes S-2XL, $30-$45.
- When I want to spice things up on a relaxing getaway, I tuck a colourful pair of Hanky Panky thongs in my bag...so tiny they'll also fit in your purse or pocket in a pinch. One size, 30 colours, $22.
- I never leave home without a travel-size Forever New to care for my delicates. Plus, it's great for swimwear too. 150ml, $4.99.
